It is not that I suffer from anxiety that I’m too kak scared to watch scary movies. I won’t get a panic attack or anything like that. I think it probably has more to do with not being in the mood for kak dreams or nightmares. At some point I probably have to try and get over my shit, because watching kak scary movies and horror films can actually have a positive impact on a person. A few ways to deal with is to establish what levels of horror and what genre or subgenre you can handle. In other words, finding your groove and developing a taste of sorts for it. You can also set boundaries for yourself , again by looking at the type of stuff you watch and how you slowly introduce yourself to it.
I’m going to try and push myself this weekend and watch all these horror movies below. If you’re a scaredy poes like me, here is my number one tip:
Watch the goddamned horror movies during the daytime, with all the curtains open, the lights on and a friend or significant other next to you. I’m pretty fucked this weekend, as my wide is at the coast with family, so I will be surrounding myself with Rottweilers.
Happy Halloween!
Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep (2019)
Of all the genres and sub-genres, Stpehen King is probably the easiest of all for me to handle, probably because I started reading his books back as a lighty in standard 6.
Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson lead this book-inspired sequel to the 1980 film The Shining. A now-adult Dan Torrance (an alcoholic struggling to find a job) moves to a small town in New Hampshire and becomes “Doctor Sleep”. He then meets Abra Stone, a teenager with the brightest shine he’s ever seen. He learns that a cult of evil beings called The True Knot are chasing her with the intent to eat her shine and does everything in his power to protect her. This doesn’t sound too bad? Most elements from The Shining movie were recreated with duplicate sets and lookalike actors.

From the peanut gallery:
“Two years later: I am still in awe of how well the movie is made. I find it is a worthy completion to a famous movie by a VERY particular director (who had adapted a delicate horror story by a very much loved author). It’s a shame Doctor Sleep went unnoticed.”
Daniel Isn’t Real (2019)
When something is called “a frightening horror” I can already hear noises coming from my jean pant. An emancipated Luke decides to leave his mother’s home but his social awkwardness plethora of traumas make him seek out his imaginary childhood friend Daniel – a self-confident, manipulative young man. Daniel starts to help Luke, but his intentions aren’t that lekker. Both stars’ fathers in this movie are A-list Hollywood actors: Miles Robbins is the son of Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon and Patrick Schwarzenegger is the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver.
Rating: 6.1
From the peanut gallery:
“The Joker and Daniel had one thing in common, They both have horrible therapists”
Elizabeth Harvest (2018)
A brilliant scientist marries a beautiful woman and shows her his home, tuning her that it is all hers, except for one room that is not to be entered. So what do you skiem happens? Ja, she enters and comes across what might possibly be human cloning. OK, bye-bye Elizabeth! When the husband returns, she fokken kaks.
Rating: 5.8
From the peanut gallery:
“In any language, “This room is off limits.” translates into “You should get as far away as possible.” because what normal individual has a room in their home that no one is allowed into? You can have a room that you prefer people not enter. But a room where people are absolutely outright barred from has serial killer written all over it in my opinion..”
Wildling (2018)
This is Liv Tyler’s second horror film. The first one was The Stangrers. In this movie Anna (Liv) is a young woman who spent her entire childhood locked in the attic of her house, under the care of a mysterious man she called father. The town sheriff frees Anna and helps her start a new life, but childhood nightmares about creatures that devour children is totes fucking with her life. The cave scenes were shot in a warehouse in Brooklyn. This sounds tame enough. Maybe I will start off with this movie?
Rating: 5.5
Note from Watkykjy:
Every single trailer we looked for, gave away the entire plot, so stay away from any trailers for The Wildling if you don’t want to spoil it for yourself!
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
My entire body tells me not to watch this. In 1968, in Mill Valley, Pennsylvania, the outcast teenager Stella Nicholls is an aspirant writer that has only two friends, Auggie Hilderbrandt and Chuck Steinberg. On the Halloween night (like, this fucking Sunday), the three of them decide to play a prank on the bully, Tommy Milner and flee to a drive-in theater, which is totally a fokken kak idea. Kak idea number 2: They decide to spend the night visiting the haunted house of the Bellows family. One of the chicks finds the book of stories of the notorious Sarah Bellows and she (kak idea number 3) decides to bring it home. She comes to the realization that Sarah is writing one horror story per day with each one of them and she tries to find way means to stop Sarah. In almost every frame of the film the colour orange and/or yellow is visible.
Rating: 6.2
From the peanut gallery:
“This is literally just goosebumps on crack.” <———– the reason why I’m not going to watch it
Haunt (2019)
On Halloween (yay, Sunday!), a group of tjommies encounter an extreme haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real. This sounds like Freddy Kruger vibes, right? Production on this movie was halted when a man was stabbed near the Cal Poly Pomona Campus. There was also a police shooting. Jirre!
Rating: 6.3
From the peanut gallery:
“Just finished this movie and it was fucking awesome. Better than most movies released in theaters. Makes Hellfest look like a syfy original. 👌”

[feature_headline type=”left, center, right” level=”h2″ looks_like=”h3″ icon=”lightbulb-o”] Our randomized trailer pick of the week [/feature_headline]
Each week we take a number from 1 to 10 from our list of suggestions and put it through a randomizer to choose a trailer to show you. This week it landed on our number 1 spot, “14 haunting Halloween horror movies” and selected Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep from that list:
“Doctor Sleep” continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and newcomer Kyliegh Curran star in the supernatural thriller, directed by Mike Flanagan, from his own screenplay based upon the novel by Stephen King. Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality. Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.
