I reckon today’s list has more than enough entertainment to keep you busy for the entire weekend. It is a bit heavy on the drama side but it gets balanced out by doccie and even a kids movie which should be enjoyed by adults alike. At least we can buy booze over the weekend!
Remember to check out our top 10 suggestions below as well. You will always have something worthwhile to stream!
Lady Bird
Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) is a high school senior from the wrong side of the tracks. She longs for adventure, sophistication, and opportunity, but finds none of that in her Sacramento Catholic high school. This movie follows her senior year in high school, including her first romance, her participation in the school play, and most importantly, her applying for college. A solid comedic drama.
The Roads Not Taken
A drama with Javier Bardem and Elle Fanning as a father-daughter duo. A day in the life of Leo and his daughter, Molly, as he floats through alternate lives he could have lived, leading Molly to wrestle with her own path as she considers her future. This is 100% all drama and now smiles., so get the tissues out. It is heart-wrenching to say the least.
Hightown
Buckle up for a lekker crime drama mystery! Set in the world of beautiful but bleak Cape Cod, one woman’s journey to sobriety is overshadowed by a murder investigation dragging her into its fold. Jackie Quiñones, a hard-partying National Marine Fisheries Service agent, has her free-wheeling life thrown into disarray when she discovers a body on the beach – another casualty of Cape Cod’s opioid epidemic. As a result of this trauma, Jackie takes the first steps toward becoming sober – until she becomes convinced that it’s up to her to solve the murder.
Fake Famous
A brand new HBO doccie which eplores the meaning of fame and influence in the digital age through an innovative social experiment . Three people with relatively small followings are turned into ‘influencers’ overnight. It follows an actress, fashion designer and real estate assistant who attempt to become social media influencers by purchasing fake followers and bots to boost their popularity. I am intrigued!
Trolls World Tour
Man, I am SO lus for a lekker animation adventure comedy to enjoy with a few beers this weekend. Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake are back for another musical adventure. When the Queen of the Hard Rock Trolls tries to take over all the Troll kingdoms, Queen Poppy and her friends try different ways to save all the Trolls. For those who, like myself, are kids at heart but have grootmens moeny to buy snacks and grootmens drinks.

[feature_headline type=”left, center, right” level=”h2″ looks_like=”h3″ icon=”lightbulb-o”] Our randomized trailer pick of the week [/feature_headline]
Each week we take a number from 1 to 10 from our list of suggestions and put it through a randomizer to choose a trailer to show you. This week it landed on our number 1 spot, “The real South African story behind the movie Misbehaviour“:
In 1970, the Miss World competition took place in London, hosted by US comedy legend, Bob Hope. At the time, Miss World was the most-watched TV show on the planet with over 100 million viewers. Claiming that beauty competitions demeaned women, the newly formed Women’s Liberation Movement achieved overnight fame by invading the stage and disrupting the live broadcast of the competition. Not only that, when the show resumed, the result caused uproar: the winner was not the Swedish favourite but Miss Grenada, the first black woman to be crowned Miss World. In a matter of hours, a global audience had witnessed the patriarchy driven from the stage and the Western ideal of beauty turned on its head.:
