Sitting in a hotel room in Amsterdam on day two of a European surprise birthday holiday (compliments of my awesome wife), I’m a bit overwhelmed by what I had to process visually. It has been more than 15 years since I last set foot in Europe but I’ve never been to The Netherlands before and it is quite something. I keep looking up at buildings, turning my head when trams or Teslas pass and my wife keeps pulling me out of harm’s way – the fokken Dutch on their fokken bicycles – that alone can be turned into a Showmax horror series, because I don’t have time to go into the details right now. Kaas en bier wachten me, op je stommerik!

Today we’re meeting our ex-South African/ex-Polish couple from the UK for some series holiday vibes, but looking at the pics they sent through as they make their way to us through the countryside by car, it seems that we’ll be jolling in a modern fantasy world – nature, water, windmills, flowers, green grass, blue skies and crisp spring air.

That brings me to this week’s top 10 pick from The Plumlist – it is mostly fantasy: From the wannabe zef princess who will walk away with the crown in The Bachelor, to the dragons and knights from Game Of Thrones, a South African production literally called High Fantasy, The Herd which is another South African production which is pretty fokken evil and deals with witchcraft, A Discovery of Witches (which sound pretty fokken self-explanatory) to the story of Elizabeth Holmes which lived in her own Steve Jobs-esque fantasy world and turned out to be one of the biggest frauds of the century. Phew!

Go and dig through The Plumlist top ten pick for yourself:

Our randomized trailer pick of the week

Each week we take a number from 1 to 10 from our list of suggestions and put it through a randomizer to choose a trailer to show you. This week, we have a look at SNL’s Bill Hader in the character of Barry – a hitman-turned-actor. He swore he would give up his life of crime, but it seems it won’t be easy for him to make a clean break.
